Purpose: The
purpose of our film is to entertain and evoke an audience response. We intend
to do this through the use of typical horror conventions and the focal point of
our film being on a supernatural presence which the protagonist cannot escape. The
use of typical cliché jump scares and simple narrative will work in conjunction
to one another in order to achieve an emotional response from our audience. The
restricted narrative will also help us achieve the intended purpose of our film,
because the audience only know as much as the protagonist herself. Consequently
the audience will feel as though they are on the journey with the Sarah and
react and feel the same emotion Sarah is feeling throughout the film.
Target
audience: Through research we found that the majority of those who
enjoy watching films of the supernatural horror genre are young adults.
Consequently our primary target audience is both genders, between the ages of
18-30. This is because the supernatural genre appeals to young adults as they
like the fear factor and anticipation that is created by films of this genre.
Additionally young adults between the ages of 18-30 enjoy going out with
friends to view films of this genre because it seen as a pleasurable experience
and fun social activity. Our film will appeal to those of a socio economic grade
c1, c2, d and e this is because they will have the spare time to watch the film
as well as feel a sense of escapism when watching the film, where as those of
the socio economic grade a and b may not have the free time or interest to
watch a conventional horror film. Our secondary target audience is both genders
between the ages of 30-45 this is because they may also like watching films of
the supernatural horror genre as well as be intrigued by the psychological
thrilling storyline of our film.
